Guardtech Group set for business awards double with CleanCube innovation

The cleanroom specialists are up for gongs at the Federation of Small Businesses showcase and SME Cambridgeshire Awards

THE GUARDTECH GROUP are preparing for two potentially golden nights in the space of two weeks after clinching final spots at the SME Cambridgeshire Awards and the Federation of Small Business Awards.

The Haverhill-based cleanroom design & build experts were listed for the final on both occasions thanks to their pioneering work with CleanCube Mobile Cleanrooms – particularly their shipping container and Luton Van laboratories which have been conducting COVID-19 PCR testing up and down the country throughout the pandemic.

Guardtech are up for the Business Innovation award at the SME Cambridgeshire showcase, while their FSB nomination comes in the Business and Product Innovation category.

The latter sees the Suffolk firm pitted against five other finalists, including HayPigs! – who produce toys, treats and accessories for guinea pigs and were featured on the popular BBC TV programme Dragon’s Den.

Marketing Manager Joe Shackley, who oversees the awards and exhibitions aspects of the business, is looking forward to honouring the achievements of his talented colleagues at the events on 17 February (SME) and 4 March (FSB) at IWM Duxford and Newmarket Racecourse respectively.

“The team have done some remarkable work with CleanCube Mobile Cleanrooms since I joined the company back in 2020,” he said, “so it’s a real honour to be with them to celebrate their achievements at these awards.

“Plus, having seen the HayPigs! on Dragon’s Den, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to say: ‘For that reason, I’m out!’

“I’m sure both awards will be great occasions for all involved – and another great to chance to connect with some esteemed nominees, but just by having the work our team is doing noticed in this manner feels like we’ve already won.”

CleanCube Mobile Cleanrooms come in six models – the 20ft Mini container, 40ft Midi container and 40ft double Maxi container, as well as Mobi and Mobi+ van conversions and the modular building Multi specification.

The containers and vans continue to carry out vital PCR testing at major airports, for TV and film product companies and at elite sporting events all over the country.

And Mr Shackley added that the potential usage for these units goes far beyond just fighting COVID-19.

“We’re really proud of the impact CleanCube has had in helping the country get to grips with COVID-19,” he said. “But this concept is having an impact that’s far more wide-reaching.

“Whether you need a laboratory, or a new manufacturing area, and you don’t have the space in your existing building, or the time or budget to construct something more substantial, this could be the solution your business needs.

“We’ve got CleanCubes in car parks and fields all over the UK – providing that extra bit of lab space where necessary. The value of the flexibility and adaptability of these units really can’t be measured. It’s a real problem-solving cleanroom solution.”
