CYGNET TEXKIMP
About us
Cygnet Texkimp is a leading global provider of fibre handling and converting technology.
We are an export-led British manufacturer supplying state-of-the-art handling and processing machinery to high-performance fibre and fabric industries. We design and build technologies to process technical fibres for worldwide markets in aerospace, automotive, wind energy, sporting goods and industrial.
Since 1974, we have manufactured creels for the traditional textile industry, building on our knowledge to become experts in the handling and processing of advanced fibres in the markets that we service today. Over four decades we have built a strong reputation for quality, service and technical expertise, and a network of long-standing customers and valued suppliers.
We also specialise in the design and build of a wide range of downstream technologies including laminators, coaters, slitters and prepreg machines, alongside associated fibre handling and automation technologies. Most recently, we have launched a series of filament winding technologies, including high-speed, multi-axis and 3D winding machines.
We operate a busy programme of R&D at our innovation centre in Cheshire, working in partnership with world-leading scientists and academics to develop next-generation materials including strong, lightweight composite parts for automotive and aerospace.
Our commitment to continual improvement has earned us a reputation as one of our industry’s true innovators.

Multi Axis and 3D Winding
Cygnet Texkimp’s Multi-Axis Winder is a high-speed winding machine capable of winding technical fibres including carbon, aramid and glass quickly and accurately into strong and lightweight composite parts for automotive, aerospace, rail, sailing, construction, wind energy. Like the company's 3D Winder, this technology addresses the need for faster, lower-cost ways to manufacture consistent and repeatable composite parts. The Multi-Axis Winder is designed for the high-rate production of linear structures, such as tubes and masts, but it is not capable of the more complex, curved shapes offered by the 3D Winder. Multiple fibre tows are laid down rapidly around an inner core to build up structures quickly and with a high level of control and accuracy. The technology allows manufacturers to run dry fibres as well as pre-impregnated tapes and offers a compelling alternative to braiding or conventional filament winding. This machine is ideally suited for use with an automated production cell – including robotic loading and unloading technology – to improve process efficiency as part of an integrated manufacturing system.
DEECOM composites recycling solution
An innovative recycling technology that uses superheated steam to reclaim fibres and resins from end-of-life composite components and offers the potential for both elements to be reused in the manufacture of new parts.

Slitting & Spooling
Cygnet Texkimp offers a range of high speed slitting and rewinding machines suitable for a variety of materials including plastics, films, foils, foams, adhesives and non-adhesives. With various slitting options available, including shear, crush and razor slitting, this extremely versatile machine can be supplied as a stand-alone unwind slitter to be integrated into an existing process, or as a complete line, with optional winding techniques including duplex centre winding, centre surface winding or multi-head traverse winding.
Creels
Cygnet Texkimp is the largest independent manufacturer and supplier of fibre unwinding creels in the world. We’ve been designing and selling creels since 1974 and now supply several types of creel to suit a wide range of applications and industry sectors, from traditional textiles to aerospace-grade composites. We offer an unwinding solution for every fibre processing application and our creels play a vital role in helping fibre processing and converting companies produce the highest quality fibres and materials. Every creel we produce is specifically designed to meet our customer’s exact needs. However, each one features our unique fibre guiding and tension control systems to reliably manage the way in which fibres are unwound from the package and, where necessary, fed into downstream processes.

Prepreg Technologies
Cygnet Texkimp is already one of the largest suppliers of thermoset prepreg technologies to the global aerospace sector, but now we are also making high-performance thermoplastics viable in mainstream automotive and industrial markets with the first commercially-available, high-volume thermoplastic processing lines in the world. We are continually developing our prepreg capability and solutions for the many industries who want to improve performance by harnessing the full potential of composite technology at a sensible cost and workable rate of production.

Filament Winding
Cygnet Texkimp has combined decades of expertise in fibre handling and process control to develop a range of filament winding machines used in the manufacture of strong, lightweight composite parts for global markets including automotive, aerospace and wind energy. We offer standard and bespoke filament winding technologies, including very high tension, high speed and high volume machines, and fully automated systems with robotic loading and unloading capability. We also offer secure R&D trials of these technologies at our state-of-the-art Innovation Centre at our headquarters in Cheshire, England.

Coating & Filming
Cygnet Texkimp manufactures some of the most advanced coating and filming systems in the market. These machines are designed for both the composite prepreg market and the more diverse wide web converting industries. Our technologies deliver the most uniform, thin and repeatable coat weights achievable and so help manufacturers to deliver the highest quality finished products.

Automation & Handling
Cygnet Texkimp has developed a range of state-of-the-art automation and handling solutions to work alongside our fibre processing and converting technologies. These are designed to help customers manipulate bobbins of fibre on and off machinery, plug labour gaps and reduce associated costs, maintain fibre quality and improve product traceability. By automating the process of loading and unloading packages of fibre, manufacturers have, in recent years, been able to accommodate larger and heavier packages as a way of increasing production capacity and speed and reducing downtime. Cygnet Texkimp’s portfolio of customised automation and handling technologies not only improve process efficiency but also enhance the quality of the fibre, tape or yarn by reducing physical handling and improving traceability and in-process checking.
