As the only professional body dedicated to aerospace, aviation and space communities, we exist to further the advancement of aeronautical art, science and engineering around the world.
Established in 1866, the Society has been at the forefront of developments in aerospace, seeking to promote the highest professional standards and provide a central forum for sharing knowledge.
As a membership organisation, we attract members from a broad range of careers across the aerospace industry. Joining as a member provides professional recognition, learning opportunities and the chance to influence and share your thoughts and ideas on and influential platform. Engineers can also gain professional registration as a Chartered Engineer, Incorporated Engineer or Engineering Technician.

The Aeronautical Journal
The Aeronautical Journal has, for over a century, been the UK’s leading scientific and technical aeronautics Journal and is the world’s oldest Aerospace Journal that remains in production. Published monthly, The Aeronautical Journal draws upon the expertise and resources of The Royal Aeronautical Society providing a world-wide forum for authors from the UK and overseas. Research papers are solicited on all aspects of research, design and development, construction and operation of aircraft and space vehicles. Papers are also welcomed which review, comprehensively, the results of recent research developments in any of the above topics.

RAeS Careers Service
Established in 1997, The Royal Aeronautical Society Careers Team are your one-stop-shop for FREE impartial and specialist advice. We have a vast range of resources and materials on careers in aerospace and aviation – from civil, military, engineering and maintenance through to pilots, cabin crew, business and operations. We are here to support anyone, whether you are new to the sector or an experienced professional looking for further development. - FREE 1-2-1 careers advice available online via webinar or by phone, with impartial advice on aerospace & aviation careers routes, CVs and job hunting advice. - Our team are available Monday to Friday to provide specialist advice, prepare for the upturn in our sector by contacting us to arrange an appointment - Annual recruitment fair dedicated to aerospace and aviation - Careers in AEROSPACE & AVIATION LIVE - Apply for financial support for tuition fees from Centennial Scholarship Fund

RAeS Free Student Membership
If you are in full-time education, we offer a free membership for the whole time you’re studying, giving you access to all membership benefits and online access to AEROSPACE magazine monthly via our app or website. Becoming a student member will mean you’re eligible for a discounted e-associate graded membership, for your first year after graduation.

The National Aerospace Library
The National Aerospace Library houses an extensive collection devoted to aeronautics, aviation and aerospace technology.
