TCR Composites is a formulator of epoxy resin systems and supplies top-rated custom prepreg and towpreg materials around the world. TCR's unique systems boast long shelf-life times of 3 months to 12 months at ambient temperatures, making transportation and storage simple, and cost-effective.
TCR Composites was created from aerospace technology, thus has many options for aerospace applications, including low outgassing systems, high cycle life systems and the newest formulation for high-temperature operation. PREPREG TOW
TCR Towpregs feature a patented thermoset resin system, storable at room temperature, that can be used with virtually any continuous fiber reinforcement. TCR Towpregs are designed for high throughput (up to 900 ft or 275 m per minute) for filament winding applications. Tow can be impregnated utilizing 6K to 60K standard modulus to high modulus carbon fibers as well as glass, basalt and aramid with equivalent cross sections. TCR resins are matched with industry fibers to provide optimal performance. Each fiber has unique properties and may require a specific resin to achieve maximum performance. From high-performance rocket-motor cases to the highest quality commercial pressure cylinders, TCR Towpregs are the material of choice for pressure vessels and are used in a variety of markets including aerospace, defense, industrial, infrastructure, recreation and marine.
PREPREG FABRIC
Storable at room temperature, TCR Prepreg fabrics are available in many styles, weights, and widths. Commonly used fabrics are often stocked onsite at TCR Composites while any other fabrics, including specialty items, are obtained from suppliers worldwide. With the long out-life of TCR resins, the prepreg fabrics can be stored, used and processed without a shortage of time. Fabrics, also referred to as “broadgoods”, are used in a wide variety of markets including marine, industrial, infrastructure, aerospace, medical and recreation. The broadgood forms available as prepreg from TCR Composites include Stitched, Uni-Woven, Non-Woven, Multi-Axial and Hybrids.
PREPREG UNI-DIRECTIONAL TAPE
TCR’s line of carbon unidirectional tapes features a patented thermoset epoxy resin system with extended out-times at room temperature. Customer may specify resin types, resin content and fiber areal weights (FAW) from 150 to 600 gsm. Uni-tapes are available with poly backing. Reinforcements may be selected from various carbon fiber suppliers. Unidirectional tapes are fibers impregnated with a resin matrix; all fibers run in the same direction. They can be made in a variety of weights and thicknesses to meet customer requirements. TCR commercial grade prepreg uni-tapes are ideal for fabricating composite products that require long lay-up times and thick laminate construction. Uni-tapes are well-suited for recreation, infrastructure, industrial and medical applications.
PREPREG BRAIDED SLEEVES
TCR uses epoxy resins specifically designed for braided reinforcements made of carbon, fiberglass, aramid or any combination. All formulations are storable at room temperature. Refrigerated shipping and storage are not required. Braid is a system where yarns are intertwined. No two yarns are twisted around each other. Braid is also defined as a family of fabrics continually woven on the bias. Tubular sleevings are the most common type of braid. Braid may be used for aerospace, medical, recreational and industrial applications. During composite fabrication, tubular braids are opened up and applied to a molding tool or core. Then they are consolidated with stretch tape, vacuum bags, or matched two-piece mold.
