Bear Safety Adds LiDAR Detection to its Automated Industrial Safety Solutions
Bear Safety is expanding its automated industrial safety offering with LiDAR detection, enabling smarter, real-time responses to pedestrian, vehicle and machinery risks.
Bear Safety is expanding its automated industrial safety offering with LiDAR-based detection, giving industrial and manufacturing sites more options for identifying movement, presence and activity around defined risk areas.
LiDAR forms part of Bear Safety’s wider approach to creating safety systems that respond to real-world conditions rather than relying solely on permanently displayed warnings.
By combining LiDAR with projected safety signage, smart radar, AI cameras, sensors and automated controls, Bear Safety can create systems where the warning shown to a pedestrian or vehicle changes according to what is happening around them.
For example, LiDAR can detect a vehicle approaching a shared crossing and trigger a projected STOP instruction or change the visual guidance presented to pedestrians. Similar systems can be applied to blind intersections, doorways, restricted areas and vehicle routes where people and moving equipment interact.
Rather than treating LiDAR as a standalone product, Bear Safety integrates detection technology into wider automated safety systems designed around the site, workflow and identified risk.
“Automated industrial safety is about delivering the right instruction at the relevant decision point, at the right time, in real time,” said Stuart Bell, Principal Consultant at Bear Safety.
The technology can support projected walkways, crossings, warning symbols and exclusion zones that activate or change according to detection inputs. Applications include manufacturing facilities, warehouses, logistics operations, loading areas and production environments.
Visitors to Advanced Engineering 2026 can learn more about Bear Safety’s expanded detection and automation capabilities on Stand V120 at the NEC Birmingham, 4–5 November 2026, and discuss opportunities to automate warnings around pedestrian, vehicle and machinery risk points.
