CompoTech brings its fibre first advanced winding to UK Advanced Engineering 2026, NEC.

CompoTech returns to Advanced Engineering 2026 promoting the superior performance achievable with its fibre first approach to CFRP part design and production. The company specialises in innovative fibre placement and winding technologies.

During Advanced Engineering 2026, CompoTech PLUS, spol. s r.o. (Stand AA150) will show how its fibre first approach to CFRP part design and production gets more out of carbon fibre. The company specialises in fibre placement and winding technologies, and manufactures high-performance epoxy carbon fibre components and large structures that give design engineers an alternative to metal.

Each laminate is designed around the application's structural requirements, then translated into a customised automated production programme. CompoTech's Automated Fibre Laying (AFL) 6-axis robotic system places fibre at a controlled true 0° orientation and at tailored angles. Combined with multi-axis cross-winding, Integrated Loop Technology (ILT) joints – continuous load paths through connections with no drilling or fixings – and in-house digital tools, every layer can be tailored in orientation and thickness down to individual fibre tows.

True 0° matters because conventional filament winding lays fibre on a helical path, typically 7–12° off axis, so continuous fibre never runs truly along the structural axis. Where primary loads are axial, that costs stiffness, bending rigidity and stiffness-to-weight. The limit is the process, not the fibre: AFL removes it, placing pitch or PAN fibre at true 0° and achieving 10–15% higher axial stiffness in production components.

Parts designed and built for OEMs include beams, shafts, spindles and tooling for production machines; fighter jet ailerons; telescopic masts; silicon wafer metrology equipment; and radio telescope strut arrays.

Dr Humphrey Carter, Head of Business Development, will be on the stand to discuss your application, the design possibilities of CompoTech's advanced winding technologies, and its custom-built turnkey automated fibre winding and placement machines.
