Permabond ET5428

Rubber-toughened epoxy developed for the high-strength structural bonding of composite materials

Permabond ET5428 is an innovative, rubber-toughened epoxy developed for the high-strength structural bonding of composite materials, including carbon fibre, FRP and GRP.

Unlike conventional epoxies, ET5428 combines exceptional shear strength with outstanding peel, impact and vibration resistance. This allows bonded assemblies to withstand dynamic loads, demanding environments and difficult joint designs. Its ability to accommodate differences in thermal expansion also enables reliable bonding of composites to metals, plastics and other dissimilar materials.

The lightly thixotropic formulation is easy to dispense, resists slumping on vertical surfaces and fills gaps up to 5 mm. Handling strength is achieved in just 30–45 minutes at room temperature, while the cured adhesive withstands continuous service temperatures up to 120°C.

Available in cream or black for compatibility with different composite finishes, ET5428 can replace mechanical fasteners in lightweight assemblies, avoiding drilling and helping create cleaner, sealed and more aesthetically pleasing structures.
