**Phonoactive** is an interactive acoustic surface composed of an array of hexagonal cork cells, each individually actuated by a servo motor. Responding dynamically to sound, the cells rise and fall in synchronised patterns, transforming music into a continuously evolving three-dimensional landscape.

An integrated multichannel sound system, combining speakers, acoustic exciters and a subwoofer, delivers immersive spatial compositions while computational software choreographs the movement of each cell. Low frequencies generate rhythmic expansions and contractions, while changes in pitch produce intricate waves that propagate across the surface, evoking the physical phenomena of cymatics.

By translating acoustic frequencies into coordinated physical movement, Phonoactive transforms sound into a spatial, visual and tactile experience, allowing audiences not only to hear music, but to see and feel its behaviour.
