We are IK-IP
We are an experienced team of IP experts comprising UK and European patent attorneys, UK and European Trade Mark Attorneys, IP Litigators and Representatives before the Unified Patents Court (UPC). We provide IP protection in the form of patents, designs and trade marks and help our clients enforce the IP rights they have protected through the UK courts and the Unified Patents Court (UPC). With substantial experience and success in European patent oppositions and Trade Mark oppositions we help commercial entities navigate through crowded and complex IP landscapes by bringing legal challenges to invalid patents and trade marks. Our IP expert team boasts much experience from working in-house in some large and well-known corporates making us well placed to provide commercially focused and strategic advice on ancillary matters such as IP risk assessment and mitigation, IP agreements and leveraging tax benefits such as Patent Box.
We work for businesses, academic institutions and other organisations of any size who are generating new ideas and seeking to leverage their intellectual property to prosper, grow and create new revenue streams. We are also very happy to help other legal professionals and IP Experts based overseas to support their clients in achieving the same.

We are a young and forward-thinking firm made up from a mature and vastly experienced team of IP professionals each of whom has had their own impressive career journey prior to joining us. Our experienced IP experts have each built successful careers in more traditional IP firms and IP departments in large corporates. We understand the business challenges faced by our clients and tailor our working practices and advice to best meet their individual needs.
Our team members have influenced UK IP policy over many decades serving on committees and councils in the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys, the IP Federation, IP Inclusive and have given evidence on IP matters to House of Lords committees. We understand how the IP system works. Our strategic expertise is recognized by the Financial Times, several leading IP management organisations and through appointment of our experts as Ambassadors to the CEIPI IP Business Academy.
Our Expertise
Our patent attorneys collectively have a diverse range of technical expertise; engineers, chemists, physicists, life scientists, computer software and AI experts. We are well placed to protect innovation in just about any technical field. They have considerable collective experience in European patent oppositions and UK patent litigation.
Our team also includes experienced trade mark attorneys and design specialists, and an experienced specialist paralegal team keeping our attorneys organized.
Our Story
Ilya Kazi debuted in the IP profession in 1992 as a Cambridge graduate training in an established London firm. He quickly became a well-known character amongst his peers in the UK profession, an active contributor to events in the CIPA Informals student network and hosting training tutorials to newer students seeking qualification. Having spent his training years in large UK and US practices, he quickly became a partner/owner of a small, almost unknown London firm which over 24 years he built to a large successful, globally recognized and respected IP service provider.
As many of us did, when the pandemic hit in 2020 Ilya reflected on his career and re-evaluated his priorities. He decided to set up a new practice in his own vision. IK-IP was born on October 2020.
The firm has gone from strength to strength, Ilya having brought in professional expertise including several attorneys he has stayed connected with since his training days, each who have been on their own interesting and impressive career journeys.
The IK-IP approach is one of collaboration, attorneys working together on client projects bringing the best of their expertise to situations that need them. Following Ilya’s lead, the team culture rebels against too much formality and encourages fun but without compromise to professional service.
