About us

Supply Smarter West Midlands brings together leading experts in manufacturing, innovation, skills and business growth.

The Supply Smarter West Midlands Consortium brings together leading experts in manufacturing, innovation, skills and business growth to help West Midlands manufacturers become more productive, resilient and competitive. Led by C&W Business Solutions and West Midlands Growth Company, the consortium combines the expertise of WMG at the University of Warwick, the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC), Birmingham City University, Coventry University and the University of Wolverhampton to deliver transformational support to manufacturing businesses across the region.

Made Smarter Adoption West Midlands is part of the UK-wide Made Smarter programme, a government-backed initiative helping manufacturers adopt digital technologies, develop leadership capabilities and build the workforce skills needed for the future. Through tailored advice, digital road-mapping, workforce development and technology adoption support, the programme enables businesses to improve productivity, drive innovation and accelerate digital transformation.

The Supply Chain Transition Programme, funded through the West Midlands Investment Zone, helps manufacturing SMEs diversify their customer base and access opportunities in high-growth sectors. Businesses receive specialist one-to-one support, leadership development, innovation assistance and access to R&D funding opportunities, helping them enter new markets and strengthen their position within evolving supply chains.

Together, these programmes form part of the wider Supply Smarter West Midlands offer, providing manufacturers with access to world-class expertise, research, innovation and business support. By connecting industry, academia and business growth specialists, the consortium helps companies navigate change, embrace new technologies and develop the capabilities needed to succeed in the industries of tomorrow. Aligned with regional and national growth ambitions, Supply Smarter West Midlands is playing a key role in building a stronger, more sustainable and future-ready manufacturing sector across the West Midlands.
