CDuro - Integrated Loop Technology Bike Frame
Carbon bike frame with joints wound into the tubes: no bonded lugs, no drilled holes, tested for strength and fatigue.
The CDuro frame shows what Integrated Loop Technology (ILT) can do in a finished product. Its carbon tubes are produced by automated fibre winding and placement, and the joints are carbon fibre loops wound directly into the tube structure rather than bonded or bolted on afterwards.
Numerical and process optimisation gives the joints high torsional and tensile stiffness and load-bearing capacity. Mechanical testing has verified the strength and fatigue life of both the joints and the complete frame.
CDuro frames come in a range of standard sizes, and geometry can be customised to a rider's requirements. The same ILT approach can be used to build modular frame structures of other sizes and forms.
Key benefits of ILT:
• Efficient material use – no additional lamination at the joints
• Reduced machining – the joint hole is formed during fibre placement
• Shorter production and labour time – lower cost per part
• Stronger joints – particularly in parts loaded in tension or bending
