Compo Tech PLUS
Integrated Loop Technology (ILT)
Joints wound into the composite part in one automated process: no drilled holes, patches or over-lamination.
Integrated Loop Technology (ILT) combines the structural composite part and its joints in a single automated fibre placement process. The result is a joint that is integral to the structure, not bonded or bolted on afterwards.
ILT uses continuous axial fibres to overcome the usual weak points of composite joint design. It allows rapid, cost-effective production of lighter, stronger tubular carbon epoxy parts with fully integrated joints between sub-assemblies, fastened without machined holes or extra laminating material and labour.
Key benefits:
• Efficient material use – can eliminate reinforcing patches and over-laminated joints
• Reduced machining – the joint hole is formed during fibre placement
• Shorter production and labour time – higher productivity, lower part cost
• Stronger joints – particularly in parts loaded in tension or bending
Current applications include a mountain bike frame, automated material handling structures, a lightweight tactical ladder and a lightweight automotive crane.
