The structure can be built in a wide variety of forms depending on the force range and the application requirements.

Data Acquisition Systems
Data acquisition is the process of sampling signals measuring real world physical parameters and storing the signals as digital numeric values that can be viewed and analysed on a computer. Data acquisition systems are often abbreviated as DAQ. Data acquisition systems consist of sensors, signal conditioning circuitry including filters and isolation, analogue to digital converters and data storage, and may also include visual displays. StrainSense provide modular data acquisition systems for multiple applications, and power analyzers for electrical power measurement

Inclinometers and Tilt Sensors
An inclinometer is a sensor used for measuring angles, mainly for tilt, slope or elevation of an object with respect to gravity. They are known by several names such as tilt sensor, inclinometer or even pitch & roll indicator. The most common inclinometer is for measuring single axis X or dual axis X & Y axis however on request, the Z axis can be measured using a separate device. All incorporate the latest high-performance MEMs sensing technology and are further enhanced with internal compensation circuitry for high accuracy performance and long-term stability. The only other consideration should be the output required. Current outputs (4-20mA) can be used for long transmissions up to 2000 metres. Analogue outputs are most common having 0-5, 0-10V, 0.5-4.5V or even +/-5 or 10V. Digital output version are available such as RS-232, RS-485, TTL, PWM and CAN.

RVDTs (Rotary Variable Differential Transformer), Rotary encoders, Servo potentiometers or even RVITs (Rotary variable inductance transducer).

Linear Measurement Sensors
They have many names, Linear Potentiometers, Linear Pots, Linear position sensors but in essence they are one of the most common forms of measuring device for linear position. They are incredibly simple to use relative to other devices, infinite resolution, output is proportional to stroke length and very robust. Not all Linear pots are the same. Ours have unique features to ensure long trouble free life in the most harsh of environments from motorsport to structural monitoring. From measuring linear position or displacement in a wide variety and broad range of manufacturing and process equipment. Options include 4-20mA output, front or rear facing cable exits, Ingress protection IP65/67, spring return versions, rod ends or pop flanges.

Current Transducers and Clamps
Current Transducers, or current sensors are a sensor that detects electric current in a wire. The current is converted into an electrical signal proportional to the current value. This section includes dedicated AC and DC current clamps, or combined AC & DC current measurements. Technologies include Zero Flux current transducers or Rogowski coil current transducers, but all are high performance, high accuracy. All sensors are isolated for high electrical safety rating. Sensors are available in configurable measurement range with power supplies and cabling also supplied. Applications include power measurement and analysis, motor, drive and generator testing.

NEX[DAQ]
NEX[DAQ] is the flexible “everyday tool” for all test and validation engineers and troubleshooters. When connected to the USB-C or Ethernet interface of any computer, the NEX[DAQ] becomes a powerful measurement system for analog, digital, counter and CAN-bus data acquisition. The included measurement software OXYGEN ensures easy and quick setup of the NEX[DAQ]. Just plug & play to start the gapless data recording. Customise the software according to your measurement tasks by defining different screens and views. OXYGEN offers many standard features such as FFT analysis, visualization, analysis & post-processing, triggers, events, math, calculation, creation of meaningful reports (e.g. as PDF) and advanced features such as order or power analysis, efficiency maps, swept sine analysis, etc. The NEX[DAQ] data acquisition system is distributable. If 8 channels are not enough, multiple NEX[DAQ] units can be daisy-chained to a multi-channel system at any time. A single cable is sufficient for data transfer and synchronization via Ethernet PTP/IEEE1588.

LVDTs
LVDT (Linear Variable Differential Transformer), is an absolute position/displacement transducer that will convert a position or linear displacement from a mechanical reference (zero, or null position) into a proportional electrical signal containing phase (for direction) and amplitude (for distance) information. The LVDT operation does not require an electrical contact between the moving part (probe or core assembly) and the coil assembly to work, but instead relies on electromagnetic coupling; this and the fact that LVDTs can operate without any built-in electronic circuitry are the primary reasons why they have been widely used in applications where long life and high-reliability equipment under very severe environmental conditions as required, such as in Military/Aerospace, process controls, automation, robotics, nuclear, chemical plants, hydraulics, power turbines, and many others. LVDT’s come in two different ranges, either DC or AC output. DC versions, in general, have integral electronics or there is limited need for complex signal conditioning or AC variants which will require signal conditioning. There are lots of object application-based uses for an LVDT device, as they are not electromechanical there are many good uses for many devices.

Submersible Level Transmitters
Submersible Level Transmitters are known by several names including Hydrostatic Level Sensor, Submersible Level Sensor, Submersible Pressure Transmitter or Submersible Level Probe. All are designed to accurately continuously measure the depth or level of liquid. The concept is very simple: Water has a specific gravity (SG) of 1 which equates to 100 mBar of pressure per metre of liquid level. The pressure is measured by the level transmitter which directly equates to the liquid level. A typical example would be 10 metres of liquid level equates to 1 bar of pressure. Other liquids such as Diesel have a different specific gravity of roughly 0.85 which means 10 metre level would be 0.85 bar pressure. There are many different applications, hence different designs that should be considered when selecting the right level transmitter. The main criteria is the sensor diameter, the depth to be measured, the output required such as 4-20 mA and the environment it will be fitted. Our selection includes slimline borehole transmitters, Hazardous area ATEX approved, Digital output SDI-12 & RS-485 Modbus level transmitter and high volume, low cost IoT solutions.

Board Mount Pressure Sensors
A board mount or board mountable pressure sensor or pressure transducer is typically mounted onto a printed circuit board (PCB) and used to measure the pressure of gases or liquids. The media to be measured is transferred to the sensor via a small plastic tube or the pressure sensor needs to be in contact with the media to be measured such as a barometric air pressure sensor, air flow, pitot tube pressure Pressure sensors options include gauge, absolute or ultra low pressure differential pressure reference and usually from 2 inch of water column to a maximum of 300 PSI. The sensing technology used is Piezoresistive or MEMS (micro-electromechanical system) which is effectively a strain gauge whose resistance changes due to pressure variances. Pressure transducers are available with analogue or digital I2C or SPI interfaces.

Pressure Sensing Elements
Pressure sensing elements are sometimes referred to as oil filled capsules, piezoresistive pressure capsules or pressure transducer capsules. The sensing element consists of a convolute diaphragm and a small amount of oil to transfer the pressure applied on the diaphragm to the piezo resistive sensing element. The oil can be silicone, or food grade depending on liquid or gas to be measured. Due to their compact size, the pressure sensing elements can be embedded into meters or measuring instruments. There are several output options including mV, amplified or digital I2C or SPI. The digital output pressure sensing elements can have a dual output of temperature and pressure and low power options are available for battery powered applications. Custom solutions can be provided.

Signal Conditioners and Amplifiers
In electronics, signal conditioning means manipulating an analogue signal in such a way that it meets the requirements of the next stage for further processing. Most common use is in analogue-to-digital converters. A full range of signal conditioning option which includes amplifiers for all the sensor types, panel meters with integral sensor power supplies, and wireless products. All can be configured to provide a total system from sensor to the final signal required. Signal conditioning can be used to directly power the sensors and receive an input signal such as accelerometers, strain gages, temperature sensors with cold-junction compensation, however be sure to note the sampling rate required. Generally the signal conditioner provides a small voltage up to approximately 10 volts. Signal conditioning can be used as part of a data acquisition system to provide monitoring and control.
