About us
priomold – Injection moulding at development speed
When a product idea needs to become a production-representative plastic component quickly, priomold helps make it happen.
We support companies in reducing development times and turning CAD data into functional injection-moulded parts quickly, flexibly and reliably.
Our core expertise is in rapid tooling, prototype injection moulding and low-volume injection moulding. Our capabilities also include engineering and DFM, Quick Tooling, insert and outsert moulding, two- and multi-component injection moulding, as well as comprehensive quality assurance and 3D scanning.
One of our key advantages is our high level of in-house manufacturing. Engineering, toolmaking, injection moulding and quality assurance work closely together at one location. Short communication paths and integrated processes allow us to respond quickly to changing requirements throughout a project.
Rapid Tooling – from CAD to injection-moulded parts faster
Rapid Tooling is at the heart of what we do.
For prototypes, pre-series and low-volume production, we manufacture aluminium injection moulds in our own in-house toolmaking department. Compared with conventional production tooling, this approach can significantly reduce tooling lead times while still producing parts using a real injection moulding process.
This means developers can test components manufactured from actual production materials rather than relying solely on alternative prototyping processes.
The result is production-representative plastic parts that can be used to validate design, material behaviour, functionality, assembly and performance before committing to conventional high-volume production tooling.
Rapid Tooling is particularly valuable for companies looking to accelerate product development, reduce development risks and shorten time to market.
Prototype injection moulding – test under realistic conditions
A prototype should answer the questions that matter before series production begins.
When material behaviour, mechanical properties, surface quality, dimensional accuracy, fit or assembly need to be tested realistically, prototype injection moulding offers significant advantages.
priomold manufactures functional plastic prototypes using an actual injection moulding process and production-grade materials.
This allows engineering teams to validate designs, carry out functional testing, evaluate assemblies and produce customer samples or parts for initial field testing.
Findings can be incorporated into the product design before investing in conventional series tooling – helping reduce both technical and commercial risk.
Low-volume injection moulding – flexible production
Not every product needs millions of parts.
For pre-series, pilot production, market launches, spare parts and products with permanently lower volumes, priomold provides flexible low-volume injection moulding.
Our aluminium tooling approach enables economical production of low to medium quantities while maintaining the advantages of genuine injection-moulded parts made from production materials.
Low-volume injection moulding can be used as a bridge between prototype and high-volume production or as a permanent manufacturing solution for applications where conventional series tooling would not be economical.
Quick Tooling – when every day counts
Sometimes even standard rapid tooling is not fast enough.
For particularly time-critical development projects, priomold offers Quick Tooling. Within defined technical parameters, simplified injection moulds and first injection-moulded parts can be produced within just a few working days.
Quick Tooling is particularly suitable for urgent functional tests, fit and assembly trials, design validation, customer samples and other development situations where waiting for conventional tooling is simply not an option.
Our engineering team assesses the component geometry, material and technical requirements in advance to determine whether Quick Tooling is suitable for the project.
Insert & outsert moulding
Modern plastic components often need to combine several functions within one part.
With insert and outsert moulding, metal parts and other functional elements can be integrated directly into the injection-moulded component. Typical examples include threaded inserts, bushings, contacts, magnets and other inserts.
By integrating these elements directly into the moulding process, robust hybrid components can be created while additional assembly operations may be reduced.
Our team can support the development process to ensure that part geometry, insert design and tooling concept work together effectively.
Two- & multi-component injection moulding
Different materials and functions can also be combined within a single injection-moulded component.
Two- and multi-component injection moulding can be used to integrate hard and soft areas, different colours, sealing functions, grip zones or other specific material properties into one part.
This can reduce subsequent joining and assembly operations while opening up new possibilities for functional product design.
For prototypes and low-volume production in particular, multi-component moulding enables future production concepts to be represented and evaluated at an early stage of development.
Engineering & Design for Manufacturing
Fast tooling starts with the right component design.
Identifying potential manufacturing challenges before toolmaking begins can save valuable time later in the project.
Our experts therefore support customers with engineering, material selection and Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
We analyse injection-moulding-relevant factors such as part geometry, wall thickness, demoulding, parting lines, gate positions and other technical requirements.
The objective is straightforward: identify risks early, reduce unnecessary tooling modifications and create the basis for a stable and efficient injection moulding process.
Quality assurance & 3D scanning
Speed should never mean compromising on quality.
priomold therefore operates its own in-house metrology facilities and integrates quality assurance directly into the manufacturing process.
Using optical 3D measurement technology, component geometries can be digitally captured and compared with the original CAD data. Deviations can be visualised, evaluated and fed directly back into the manufacturing process.
Our quality services include initial sample inspection reports, in-process and series-accompanying measurements, dimensional inspection, 3D scanning and IMDS entries.
Because quality assurance works closely with toolmaking and injection moulding, measurement results can be acted upon quickly without unnecessary external interfaces.
Everything in-house – shorter communication paths
One of the factors that makes priomold different is the close integration of our manufacturing processes.
Toolmaking, injection moulding, engineering and quality assurance are all located in-house. This reduces external interfaces and allows information to move quickly between the specialists involved in a project.
If an adjustment is required during development, there is no need for lengthy communication between separate suppliers. Our engineers, toolmakers, injection moulding specialists and quality team can work directly together to find the right solution.
This structure gives us the flexibility required for demanding development projects and tight schedules.
From product development to low-volume production
priomold is more than a toolmaker or injection moulding supplier. We see ourselves as a partner for fast product development and industrialisation.
We support projects from initial component design and engineering through toolmaking, sampling and validation to low-volume production.
Our services are particularly suited to engineering teams, designers, product developers, R&D departments, start-ups and purchasing organisations that need functional plastic components quickly and reliably.
Whether you need parts for an urgent development project, a production-representative prototype, a pilot series or ongoing low-volume production, our objective remains the same:
to shorten the journey from CAD data to a functional injection-moulded part.
