Insert & outsert moulding – combining plastics and functional components
priomold’s insert and outsert moulding solutions enable metal parts and other components to be integrated directly into the injection moulding process. Threaded inserts, bushings, contacts, magnets and other functional elements can be precisely overmoulded or combined with plastic to create robust, accurate and assembly-ready components.
With insert moulding, the insert is positioned inside the mould and then encapsulated with plastic. With outsert moulding, plastic features are moulded onto or around an existing carrier or component. Both processes make it possible to combine different materials and their individual properties within a single part.
The technology is particularly suitable for functional prototypes, pre-series and low-volume production where precision, functionality and reliable processes are essential. Integrating multiple functions into one moulded component can also reduce subsequent assembly operations and simplify complex assemblies.
