Welcome to Engels.uk. You may be familiar with Protechnic Ltd, a leading manufacturer of bespoke cases and protective foam inserts. We are pleased to announce that as of February 2024, Protechnic Ltd has joined Engels Group NV. Through this acquisition, we are combining our strengths to offer you a wider range of products and services under one brand: Engels.

Protechnic EXOcase

The EXO range products are designed, patented and manufactured by Protechnic in our facility near Bristol. Combining the convenience and customisation of a fabricated case with the durability of a moulded transit case, the EXOcase’s unique exo-skeletal design ensures maximum protection of high-value instrumentation and sensitive equipment during storage and transportation. The EXO range products are inspired by nature’s beetle tank, the stag beetle. The initial concept of utilising an outer skeleton for toughness at the point of impact was first conceived in 2009. Since then the product has been through many design reviews, field trials and has undergone extensive military testing. The beauty of the EXO range products is that it is both tough and fully customisable to meet your needs. Custom sizes, varying interior designs ranging from foam inserts to custom fittings, various coloured panels and branding configurations can be chosen. Our EXO range is a further development of the well-known flightcase. Combining the convenience and customisation of a fabricated case with the durability of a moulded transit case, the EXO case’s unique exo-skeletal design ensures maximum protection of high-value instrumentation and sensitive equipment during storage and transportation. Our crates are suitable for mechanical processing, are dimensionally stable, can be used several times and are easy to clean. Because of their perforated bottom and walls they ensure good ventilation of your products.

ESD storage boxes, picking bins and pallets

Our ESD-safe containers and cases are permanently antistatic and often available from stock. Our standard insert boxes or PCB racks and foam interiors fit into these containers and cases. For handling printed circuit boards, we supply PCB racks whose dimensions match the internal measurements of our containers. They are made of electrically conductive grid plates with 2- or 3-mm deep slots on one or two sides, screwed between two slotted profiles. Why choose ESD-conductive containers or pallets? ESD-conductive containers allow you to work safely while preventing damage and reducing costs. However, these containers and pallets offer additional benefits, which we’ve outlined for you below. Advantages: Prevents ESD damage Available in various ISO and Euro standard sizes Made from high-quality material Nearly unbreakable Easy to close with a patented snap-lock mechanism Many customization options Suitable for dust-free environments Durable: when worn out, we recycle them into new containers Often available from stock How to work safely with ESD? With ESD plastic containers, cases, or pallets from our range, you can work safely and eliminate the risk of static electricity. Their resistance is designed to gradually dissipate electricity, ensuring that the contents are never exposed to harmful currents. Most of our ESD-safe products are available from stock. Where does ESD come from and how can it be prevented? Every person carries a static charge. On rubber soles in dry weather, this can easily be 40,000 volts. Enough for sparks, noticeable shocks, and to cause explosions in gas mixtures. Even worse: the imperceptible discharge of less than 10% of that can permanently damage electronic components. Micron-thin connections in chips burn out completely, or even worse, partially due to this. In the latter case, a clock, laptop, or board computer, for example, may fail some time after startup, causing significant costs and trouble.
