3D Scanning - Reverse Engineering
Our advanced 3D scanning service plays a vital role in ensuring precision, efficiency, and quality across every stage of composite production. Using cutting-edge portable scanning technology from Creaform, we capture up to 480,000 measurements per second with an accuracy of 0.040mm—delivering aerospace-grade results that elevate our design and manufacturing processes. Whether verifying patterns and moulds, reverse engineering legacy components, or aligning physical parts with CAD data, our 3D scanning capability enables us to detect discrepancies early, reduce development time, and improve fit and finish. The scan data is transformed into a versatile mesh format, allowing for digital archiving, first-off inspection, and seamless integration into CAD workflows. This service is fully mobile and available across the UK, offering a fast, standalone solution for clients who demand accuracy and accountability. Pattern Making and Kitting
At MPM Group, our pattern making and kitting services form the foundation of precision composite manufacturing. Complementing this is our advanced CNC machining capability, which allows us to produce highly accurate patterns and reinforcement kits from a range of materials. From foam cores to structural inserts, our CNC process enhances repeatability, reduces waste, and supports both prototyping and full-scale production. We also supply fully pre-cut kits to streamline your lay-up process, saving time and improving consistency on the shop floor. GRP Parts and Moulds
Our manufacturing capabilities include a range of proven GRP processes: Hand Lay-Up, ideal for bespoke or low-volume parts, offers exceptional control over fibre placement and laminate build. Spray Lay-Up (Chop) provides a fast and efficient method for producing durable components with complex geometries. Resin Transfer Moulding (RTM) enables the creation of high-quality, repeatable parts with excellent surface finishes on both sides—perfect for medium to high-volume production. Vacuum Infusion ensures superior fibre-to-resin ratios and structural integrity, making it ideal for lightweight, high-performance applications.
