About us
RVmagnetics is an R&D company that developed the smallest passive sensor in the world – MicroWire. The scope of our work lies in prototyping and customisation. The company is based in Slovakia, the European Union. The company was established in 2015 by Prof. Rastislav Varga, and since this date has been organically growing to meet the needs for unique sensor technology of innovative leaders in a wide array of sectors.

Smart Composites Enhanced by MicroSensors
By embedding RVmagnetics MicroWire technology to the composite - precise measurements of e.g. temperature in of each layer can be obtained during the composite decking process. Allows one to distinguish whether the delamination or cracks occur during or after the decking process of layers inside composites. For the manufacturers RVmagnetics technology allows the production of the same quality composite with less material costs (layers and epoxides). Smart composite also enables its user to real-time monitor the condition and performance of equipment during the operation (structural health monitoring) and helps to reduce the likelihood of material failure. It attempts to keep low costs by reducing the frequency of maintenance tasks, reducing preventive and reactive maintenance with the predictive one.

Embedded Sensors for High-Performance Composites in Aviation, Space, and Defence
At RVmagnetics, we recognize the imperative of dual-use innovation—technology that seamlessly spans both civilian and military applications. Our magnetic MicroWire sensors, proven in aviation, automotive, and industrial manufacturing sectors, are now being tailored to meet the robust and mission-critical demands of the defence world. By transferring our success from civilian aviation and industrial use into Defence & Space, we’re bridging the gap between concept and combat-readiness. This includes ensuring that defence-grade composites with embedded sensing not only survive but excel in the harshest conditions—from nuclear zones and hypersonic flight to the crushing depths of underwater vessels. Our vision? To deliver critical capabilities to NATO-aligned Ministries of Defence (MoDs), prime contractors, and subcontractors, supporting them to build lighter, stronger, smarter, and safer platforms—across air, land, sea, and space.

Smart Electric Motor
MicroWire technology brings advanced monitoring capabilities to electric motors, enabling data collection without physical contact. By tracking magnetic field strength distribution, the system captures essential information about motor performance. The passive MicroWire is installed inside the motor chassis, positioned between the coils where magnetic fields are neutralized. This configuration supports real-time data collection, including temperature, motor speed, and output, recorded up to 10,000 times per second. The MicroWire requires no power wiring, making it compact and ideal for space-limited electric motors. Only the sensing head, placed within 10 cm of the MicroWire, requires power. The system also determines rotor position and detects faults instantly. Despite being a magnetic sensor, its measurements remain unaffected by the motor’s electromagnetic fields. RVmagnetics’ MicroWire enhances motor performance, improves efficiency, and extends operational life.

The smallest passive custom sensor in the world
The smallest passive sensor of physical quantities is based on micro-wires. Contactless measurement of physical quantities (temperature, mechanical stress, torsion, pull, position, magnetic field, and more), uses one interface. Sensors can be mixed in many materials and used in many areas: the Internet of Things, Structural Health Monitoring, Constructions, Biomedical Applications, Preventive and Predictive Maintenance tooling. In the picture, you can see 100s of sensors... Microwire sensors by RVmagnetics are miniaturized (diameter ca. 3-70 μm) magnetic contactless sensors of physical quantities (temperature, pressure, pull, mechanical stress, torsion, magnetic field, position, etc.). Microwires are composite materials that consist of a metallic nucleus (diameter ca. 1-50 μm) and glass coating (thickness 2-20 μm). Their size, high added value, robustness, simple production process, and finally their symmetry, glass-coating, the possibility of contactless sensing leads to their utilization as a miniaturized sensor with a wide range of applications in industry.
