Cookson Industrial, with Renishaw, has made platinum rhodium, the world’s most expensive metal, commercially viable for additive manufacturing. Using a customised RenAM 500S Flex system, powder losses were cut by 95%, saving thousands per build. This breakthrough enables scalable 3D printing of high-value components for glass fibre, aerospace and catalyst applications, proving precious metals can now be used sustainably and economically in advanced manufacturing.
