Helping SMEs overcome challenges

For many small and medium-sized engineering companies, the early years are about finding the right spaces and events where they can connect with potential collaborators and customers who understand the value of niche expertise. So, how does a cluster help its largely SME membership bridge the gap to bigger opportunities and build a lasting presence?

Here’s how what began as an exploratory step has since developed into a long-standing relationship between Silverstone Technology Cluster (STC) and leading engineering and manufacturing exhibition, Advanced Engineering.

When the STC started out in 2017, it was a small but ambitious network of businesses working across the advanced engineering, electronics and software sectors. From the beginning, the idea was simple — bring together companies that might not normally meet and help them tackle big, complex challenges together.

That opportunity came the very next year at Advanced Engineering UK. For a group representing companies in sectors including automotive, aerospace, software and electronics, the event’s broad, multisector focus was an obvious fit.

Advanced Engineering didn’t just showcase one slice of the industry, it brought everything under one roof, which suited STC’s diverse membership.
