Aluminium Honeycomb – Lightweight structural core material
Aluminium honeycomb is an ultra-lightweight core material designed to provide high stiffness, excellent compression and shear resistance, and outstanding weight reduction in sandwich composite structures.
Its cellular structure ensures an optimal stiffness-to-weight ratio, dimensional stability and flatness. It is corrosion-resistant, mould-resistant, recyclable and offers excellent fire reaction performance, making it suitable for demanding applications in transportation, marine, industrial and architectural sectors.
Available in different cell sizes, foil thicknesses and densities, aluminium honeycomb can be supplied in blocks, unexpanded or expanded sheets, and cut to customer specifications for integration into a wide range of manufacturing processes.
Aluminium honeycomb is primarily used as a core material for lightweight sandwich panels, where it provides outstanding stiffness with minimal weight. The final applications depend on the panel construction and can range from transportation and marine to architecture and industrial equipment.
As a standalone material, aluminium honeycomb is also used for laser cutting tables, laminar airflow systems and energy-absorbing structures such as crash absorbers.
