EMPOWERING LIGHTNESS is not just a company motto, but a way of thinking. CEL Components, founded in 1992 as a consultancy company, was immediately fascinated by the mechanical properties of sandwich materials that can be used in numerous sectors and for a plethora of applications.

CEL Components is considered a reliable manufacturer and supplier of outstanding sandwich panels, honeycombs and high-performance products, with excellent technical knowhow and skills. Over the years, the company selected high qualified raw material suppliers and developed a modern production department and an organized logistics.

PMI Foam – High-performance structural core
PMI (Polymethacrylimide) foam is a high-performance closed-cell structural core developed for lightweight composite structures requiring exceptional mechanical properties, thermal stability and dimensional accuracy. Available in a wide range of densities, PMI foam combines outstanding compressive strength, high stiffness and low weight, making it the preferred solution for demanding applications in aerospace, motorsport, automotive, marine, defence and high-performance sports equipment. Its optimized cell structure ensures an excellent balance between low resin absorption and strong skin-to-core adhesion, making it particularly suitable for vacuum infusion, prepreg, vacuum bagging, autoclave, RTM (Resin Transfer Moulding) and VARTM (Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Moulding) processes. PMI foam also enables one-shot sandwich manufacturing (co-curing), reducing production time and improving process efficiency. The material can be easily thermoformed or CNC machined to produce complex geometries and ready-to-use core kits tailored to specific project requirements. Available in different densities to meet a wide range of structural and manufacturing needs.

Aluminium Honeycomb – Lightweight structural core material
Aluminium honeycomb is an ultra-lightweight core material designed to provide high stiffness, excellent compression and shear resistance, and outstanding weight reduction in sandwich composite structures. Its cellular structure ensures an optimal stiffness-to-weight ratio, dimensional stability and flatness. It is corrosion-resistant, mould-resistant, recyclable and offers excellent fire reaction performance, making it suitable for demanding applications in transportation, marine, industrial and architectural sectors. Available in different cell sizes, foil thicknesses and densities, aluminium honeycomb can be supplied in blocks, unexpanded or expanded sheets, and cut to customer specifications for integration into a wide range of manufacturing processes. Aluminium honeycomb is primarily used as a core material for lightweight sandwich panels, where it provides outstanding stiffness with minimal weight. The final applications depend on the panel construction and can range from transportation and marine to architecture and industrial equipment. As a standalone material, aluminium honeycomb is also used for laser cutting tables, laminar airflow systems and energy-absorbing structures such as crash absorbers. Nomex® Honeycomb – Ultra-lightweight aramid core
Nomex® honeycomb is a non-metallic structural core manufactured from aramid paper impregnated with phenolic resin. It offers an outstanding strength-to-weight ratio, excellent stiffness and high fatigue resistance, making it an ideal solution for high-performance composite structures. Its excellent electrical insulation properties, together with its resistance to corrosion and moisture, make Nomex® honeycomb particularly suitable for demanding environments where durability and reliability are essential. Available in both commercial (SC2) and aerospace (SC1) grades, it is compatible with a wide range of composite manufacturing processes and can be supplied in different cell sizes and densities to meet specific design requirements. Typical applications include aerospace, defence, railway, marine, automotive and other high-performance industrial sectors.

Compocel® AL – Fire certified lightweight sandwich panel
Compocel® AL is a lightweight aluminium sandwich panel manufactured with an aluminium honeycomb core bonded to aluminium skins. Thanks to its excellent stiffness-to-weight ratio, high mechanical performance and corrosion resistance, it is an ideal solution for applications where weight reduction and structural strength are essential. Fully recyclable, Compocel® AL is available in a wide range of configurations, with different panel thicknesses, aluminium skin thicknesses and honeycomb cell sizes to meet specific project requirements. The panel is available untreated, primed, with SurTec® 650 surface treatment or painted with a wide range of RAL colour options. It can be customized with edging, shaping, perforation and other machining operations to simplify integration into the final application. A certified version is available for projects requiring compliance with international fire performance standards. Compocel® ALF – Fire-certified aluminium sandwich panel with PET foam core
Compocel® ALF is a lightweight sandwich panel featuring a PET foam core bonded to aluminium skins. It combines excellent stiffness, low weight and high mechanical performance, making it an ideal solution for demanding transportation and industrial applications. Carbonstep® A – Carbon fibre sandwich panel
Carbonstep® A is a lightweight sandwich panel featuring an aluminium honeycomb core bonded to carbon fibre skins. Designed for high-performance applications, the panel maximizes the structural performance-to-weight ratio, delivering high stiffness and mechanical strength with a significant reduction in mass. The combination of an aluminium honeycomb core and carbon fibre skins results in an extremely lightweight yet robust structure, optimizing the efficiency of the finished component.
