The PMT GAMMA Series marks a new era, tackling the practical challenges faced by businesses across various industries. Designed for usability, efficiency and flexibility, the GAMMA Series builds on the success of the ALPHA Series, delivering enhanced functionality for complex measurement tasks. As the UK’s official supplier of PMT products, Manchester Metrology is proud to offer this cutting-edge solution to businesses across the country. The New GAMMA Series Arm The GAMMA Series Arm sets a new benchmark in portable measurement with its innovative dual suspension support structure, offering enhanced stability and usability. Designed with the world’s first external decoupling and built-in balancing mechanism, the GAMMA Arm delivers optimal function, flexibility, reduced joint loads and extended standby time. Its lightweight aerospace-grade carbon fibre build makes it a reliable and portable choice for both on-site and in-house applications across various industries. The New GAMMA Blue Laser Scanner The optional GAMMA blue laser scanner enhances the GAMMA Series with its optimised optical design, ensuring more stable scanning accuracy. It enables precise measurement in complex usage scenarios, addressing all required features and helping to overcome the bottlenecks that traditional contact probes face, such as measuring the dimensions of large, special-shaped workpieces, while maintaining optimal function. The New PMT GAMMA 8-Axis Rotary Worktable The optional PMT GAMMA 8-Axis Rotary Worktable is a complete rotary axis that connects directly with the GAMMA 7-axis arm, providing a fully enclosed, high-accuracy add-on axis that saves time and effort during hardware setup. Unlike turntables, the 8-Axis is fully transparent to the measurement software and requires no software upgrades. This allows the real-time rotation of the workpiece in relation to the measuring arm, eliminating the need to reposition either the part or the arm.

Introducing the Vortex Injection Valve: Our Latest Innovation

Introducing Vector – the Future of Extensometry
Integrating adaptive AI capabilities with optical hardware, Vector reduces test throughput times and complexity, automating the process of capturing strain, improving measurement accuracy, data consistency and operator safety. Vector eliminates the challenges of traditional contacting and non-contacting extensometers by utilising intelligent non-contact, high-accuracy measurement techniques to: • Increase testing efficiency by reducing the need for operator intervention • Measure strain through failure, however violent • Measure simultaneously longitudinally and transverse • Test in harsh environments or challenging light conditions • Test highly fragile specimens • Avoid introducing stress concentrations, such as damage from knife-edge contact • Improve test success rate by eliminating contact-point slippage • Eliminate the cost of consumable parts • On larger test frames, locate below the moving member used to apply the test force viewing the test specimen across the test zone Delivered pre-configured – plug in, power up and go! Both instrument setup and changes to accommodate varying gauge lengths, sizes and profile test specimens are eliminated. A range of automation features such as specimen and gauge length detection simplify the operator interaction and improve test reliability. Stereoscopic sensing detects machine or specimen misalignment and negates out-of-plane errors. On-board processing delivers seamless and simple integration and eliminates all external control platforms. Clear and simple visual status feedback and laser alignment guides, reduce operator training requirements and significantly improve test throughput. Vector represents a significantly reduced capital investment compared to incumbent video-type extensometers, whilst also offering a comparable lifetime cost to that of a single mecahnical clip-on extensometer system.

Introduction to Oil Condition Monitoring
Oil Condition Monitoring is the practice of periodic oil analysis to gather data on key machine-health indicators. In predictive maintenance and reliability programs, in-service oil condition monitoring is a key technique to manage critical asset uptime. This includes monitoring parameters such as: Chemistry & Viscosity (Is it the right fluid? Is it still fit for use) Contamination (Is the fluid clean? Is the fluid dry? etc) Wear (Is the machine healthy? Can I predict machine failure?) The benefits of monitoring the condition of lubricants and fluids are that issues can be predicted and avoided before they cause critical machinery to malfunction. Regular oil condition analysis supports: Reduced downtime Improved maintenance decision-making Extended oil drain intervals. Cost-saving to business Oil condition programs are implemented in a wide range of industries including manufacturing, military, mining, marine vessels, vehicle fleets, power generation, and high-performance motorsport. MiniLab Series - Oil Analyser For Industrial Machinery The key highlights for the MiniLab 53 Oil analysis identifies the root causes of corrosion and provides early warning signs of equipment wear. On-site oil analysis eliminates the time spent sending samples off-site and allows for immediate decision making. The MiniLab 53 provides comprehensive on-site oil analysis with three simple tests, providing immediate actionable results, saving time and money. This system’s highlights include: One product, delivering lab-quality analysis outside of the lab Simplified workflow for the non-expert user, no chemist required Simplified operation, data reporting and report interpretation via the TruVu 360 Diagnostic Sets with recommended actions.

Investing in health, sustainability and quality
MAPAL has commissioned a new, unique laser hardening system in manufacturing, which will gradually take over all the tasks that were previously carried out in a salt bath in the hardening workshop. This not only has advantages in terms of quality, but also protects the health of the employees as well as the environment. Different hardening processes can make different workpiece materials harder, therefore making them more resistant. At MAPAL, among other things, different tool connections are hardened. These safety-related parts are exposed to high forces. Hardening ensures that the tool connection has a long tool life despite these forces and despite multiple insertions and replacements, and that it is reliable in performing its service. Up to now, the tool connections made of tempered steel at MAPAL have primarily been hardened in a salt bath – the usual process. That being said, it is not possible to determine down to the µm how much of the workpiece material is hardened. This can result in quality problems or difficulties in the further processing of the connections. For this reason, comprehensive quality controls were mandatory after hardening. ...Read more online

iSurface Unveils Live and Intelligent Composites Material for Structural Health Monitoring of Critical Aircraft Structures
iSurface, a project led by Munro Technology, Z Prime, Axalp Technologies AG and researchers from Swiss university of applied sciences FHNW (Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz), today unveiled a new intelligent composites material for Enhanced Robustness and Real-Time Structural Health Monitoring of aerospace structures. Its immediate impact is on early warning systems as well as the reduction in inspection-detection-evaluation time, frequency and human errors. iSurface unlocks significant savings in maintenance and upkeep costs whilst improving the reliability and performance of aircraft and wind turbines. Composites are prone to damage by low velocity impacts that can cause hard to detect, barely visible impact damage (BVID). iSurface enables embedded early warning system significantly reduces risk of catastrophic failure of aviation parts such as wings’ leading edges, propeller blades and other structures close to the ground and subject to Foreign Object Debris (FOD) impact. The new iSurface material is functionalised and has electric properties that not only strengthens composite structures but also generates clean, classifiable and interpretable signals. These sensed signals can declare the sum of energy and its location of the surface upon impact, bending and shearing events. The generated signals are linked to an advanced and novel material state AI-driven modelling diagnostics and prognostics.
