L Shaped Alignment Pin
L-Pins are used to align location devices in Jigs and Fixtures. They are precise (-0.0005) and quick to remove. The L shaped handle allows for greater grip and removal. The L shape is ideal when working space is restrictive. Alignment pins can be used with a variety of BONEHAM bushes. Press Fit, Serrated or Slotted type bushes would complete and accurate alignment solution. The handle has a 1/8" cross drilled hole to connect the pin to the jig with an optional cable.

LAP Laser Line, Cross and Point lasers
LAP industrial line laser are used to show working lines or edges for alignment and positioning. They can be used to display lines where material has to be cut, folded, glued, welded or just positionned. LAP cross laser show working points or right-angled stops. They mark the point where a tool will start working, or an angle for alignment in two directions, like the corner of an object.

Large Scale RTM press - 2400tons - 10.500x3.500mm
A newly developed resin transfer molding (RTM) press from Austrian machinery manufacturer Langzauner installed at the University of Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) will slash process time for large components by a factor of 10. Designed for the fabrication of aero-structural parts, the press will advance the center’s Composites at Speed and Scale (Compass) project by reducing process time for large components from approximately 40 hours to just four hours while maintaining quality standards. AMRC’s Compass is reportedly a major boost to UK aerospace research and development using a new, open-access innovation facility that will initially house Boeing’s research project to de-risk and develop high-rate sustainable structures. The press system features an impressive 10,500 x 3,500 mm platen size and delivers unprecedented precision with fully adjustable pressing force up to 2,400 tons. Powered by AI The system is fully integrated with industrial internet of things (IIoT) capabilities, enabling comprehensive data collection for artificial intelligence and machine learning applications in factory-scale process optimization. The system’s features, described as revolutionary, include: Press force regulation accuracy of 0.1%; advanced sliding table system accommodating up to 180-ton mold mass; sophisticated plate parallelism control within hundredths of a millimeter; individual cylinder control with active parallelism management; innovative gap injection functionality with two-axis rotation capability.

Laser Guidance for Robot - Design and Manufacture Project
Guidance Automation’s technology has been leveraged by state-of-the-art driverless vehicles for indoor warehouse usage for over three decades. The company approached Solsta to help develop a next generation laser guidance system to cut costs and improve resilience. Traditionally, robots have operated on the shop floor using a rotating LiDAR system that sent out a continuous beam – searching for retroreflector target surfaces in known locations, reflecting the signal back towards its source. This approach required a shop visit by the vendor or a surveyor to install reflectors (both initially and whenever the layout was changed), and the robot also needed a second, short-range laser scanner as a safety device. Today, these machines do not need mapped reflectors as the robots can self-map the warehouse without them. Guidance Automation wanted to combine this floorplan-agnostic guidance system laser with a laser capable of detecting all natural features. This would cut costs, improve product resilience and fully futureproof the company against threats from the competition. Guidance Automation lacked the internal resources and sector knowledge to take this optical system concept to the next step, so they turned to trusted partner Solsta whose Special Projects Group developed a range finder based on a pulsed laser and an avalanche photodiode (APD). The combination of these innovations, alongside clever software to pick the signal out of background noise, gives the sensitivity needed to determine the robot’s position against both a floorplan and those moving within it. Material costs for the unit are kept highly competitive. Combined with Solsta’s DFM approach to design which allows quick and efficient assembly at their Weymouth manufacturing plant, this innovative solution has a per-unit price which is lower than competing off-the-shelf solutions with lesser capabilities.

Laser projection and DTEC PRO camera
DTEC-PRO IR flash illuminates area with targets to accelerate calibrationimage of DTEC-PRO illuminating a group of targets A combination of a circular flashlight and a camera detects reflecting targets and forwards their positions to the PRO-SOFT software - invisibly, as the flash works in the infrared spectrum. One DTEC-PRO may cover the area of several projectors and identify multiple tools or molds. Tools known to the system will be identified and then calibrated automatically. Manually targeting of each reflector will be obsolete. Depending on configuration and workflow, you may reduce the calibration time to a mere minimum: if you, for example, needed around 120 seconds to calibrate an easy to grasp tool with 6 targets, the automated calibration may take only some 6 seconds. More than 90% saved time, multiplied by number of work places, tools and/or several runs a day? The benefits should be obvious.

Laser Rangefinder Receiver - Design and Manufacture Project
Our customer required a high-precision LRR that could accurately sense the returned pulse from the designator over a range of 100m to 10km. The challenge was to develop a unit that seamlessly integrated with the designator while providing accurate distance measurements based on pulse time of flight. Additionally, the LRR needed to be automatically co-aligned with the designator, ensuring accurate target acquisition and minimising setup time. In close collaboration with the customer, Solsta designed a custom LRR unit that perfectly integrated with the laser designator. The LRR utilised polished surfaces as datum points for automatic co-alignment when attached to the designator. Solsta developed a stack of three bespoke lenses and a notch filter to focus the returned pulse onto an avalanche photodiode, accurately capturing the signal while minimising background noise. Through the development of electronics and firmware in partnership with PhotonSync, the LRR effectively captured and processed the pulse chain signal, calculating the time of flight and providing precise range measurements to the designated target. Cost-Effective Outsourcing: Solsta was entrusted with the project management, design and production of the LRR, allowing them to allocate their internal design resources to the development of their core products. Solsta’s expertise in design, engineering and production, coupled with the customer's domain knowledge, resulted in a precision solution that enhanced the capabilities of their defence and security instruments.
